Magic 8 Pizza

This passion project was inspired by retro design, a love for childhood toys, and of course, pizza. Combine these concepts together and you get Magic 8 Pizza, a stylistically fun and witty brand that aims to stand out from modern day pizza chains.

The ‘mascot’ on the top of the box was inspired by the golden era of American animation from the 1950s and 60s. The slogan above the mascot reads “There’s a pizza in your future,” a clever take on one of the many phrases you may receive when you shake a magic 8-ball. The diamond pattern on each side of the box is a redesign of the checkerboard pattern most commonly found on 1980s pizza boxes. The diamonds give a sense of mysticism, appropriate for a brand based around a fortune-teller. Likewise, the font was chosen for its enchanted appeal and stands out both on its own and within the design. The back of the shirt brings the magic 8-ball to the forefront, surrounded by witchy hands as if a fortune is being read. Again, the slogan is front and center to help attract people to this brand.
